At the western end of the south aisle, we find the baptistery.

The stained glass window above the oak screen is late Victorian, dated 1891, and commemorates the Vicar, Joseph Sharpe, who was responsible for the restoration works undertaken between 1877 and 1884.

The adjacent font is 14th century and probably would have existed in the church before John Fortey's nave alterations. It has an octagonal bowl with carved heads, supported by angels playing musical instruments; below the pedestal are demons being crushed by the power of Christian baptism. The font was relocated to its traditional location close to the church door in the 1950's and the timber decorated cover was added in 1966.

Just discernible above the south entry door is the ghostly outline of a female figure with angel's wings, bearing a crown.
